Neuroanaesthesia Training

A rotation to the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Southern General Hospital Glasgow. Trainees will complete a 3 month essential unit of training during intermediate level and another two month essential unit of training during higher level training.

Institute of Neurological Sciences

The Institute for Neurological Sciences, Southern General Hospital, is a stand-alone regional neurosciences tertiary referral centre for the West of Scotland.

The department consists of 15 consultants, providing anaesthesia & critical care for adult & paediatric neurosurgery, neurology services, interventional neuroradiology,and oromaxillofacial surgery. Being adjoined to the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries Unit a critical care outreach service is provided for patients with complications of spinal illness & injury. The neurointensive care unit consists of 7 beds, with an additional 6 bed neuro-HDU next door.

Neuroanaesthesia Advanced Training Post

The Neuroanaesthesia post forms part of the West of Scotland Training Programme in Anaesthesia, has training approval from the Royal College of Anaesthetists and will conform to the formal training guidelines laid out in the Royal College documents. The post will be based at the Institute for Neurological Sciences in the Southern General Hospital, Glasgow.
